The route for Baret Scholars was determined 18 months ago including our key regions and primary cities. We are excited to announce our selected hotels for Orientation, New York City, and Sao Paulo. Over the coming months, we will be announcing additional venues for our stays in Paris, Istanbul, Nairobi, New Delhi, and Beijing.

Orientation Week:
Eagle Mountain House

We’re pleased to announce that Eagle Mountain House in New Hampshire has been chosen and secured for Baret’s Orientation Week in September 2024.

Included in the National Registry of Historic Places and listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the inn is situated in a beautiful and very private valley of the White Mountains. About a 3 hour drive north of Boston, Eagle Mountain House has hundreds of acres of forest, fields, and streams.

To ensure an ideal environment for our students to get to know one another during this important week, Baret  has secured exclusive use of the entire lodge including all guest rooms, meeting rooms, dining facilities and amenities.

New York City:
Brooklyn Sheraton

We are pleased to announce that the Sheraton in downtown Brooklyn will be the home of the Baret Scholars program during its time in New York City.

Located squarely in the Brooklyn Tech Triangle, the Brooklyn Sheraton provides scholars the chance to live in one of the youngest and most exciting neighborhoods in New York City. Scholars will be part of the almost 60,000 college students attending the eleven universities, including the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, Long Island University, and St. Francis College, that have campuses in downtown Brooklyn.

Sheraton’s immediate surroundings provide the hotel its own campus feel. Students can spend time in Abolitionist Park, a brand-new green space directly across from the hotel named after abolitionists Harriet and Thomas Truesdell, whose house only steps away from the park was a stop on the Underground Railroad. They can eat in Dekalb Market Hall, which offers outposts of some of New York’s most famous eats, including Katz’s Deli and BK Jani, and shop in the famous outdoor Fulton Mall. With eight different subway lines within two blocks, the hotel will also be a perfect starting point for those scholars eager to explore the city’s five boroughs.

Sao Paulo:
Pullman Ibirapuera

In Sao Paulo, the Baret Scholars will call the Pullman Ibirapuera home. The hotel, as its name suggests, resides only a short walk from Ibirapuera Park, the largest park in Sao Paulo that attracts over 10 million visitors each year.

Spanning over two square kilometers, the park offers plenty in terms of outdoor activities. In the mornings, scholars can join Sao Paulo natives on the running paths on the park’s perimeter or ride bicycles alongside them on the asphalt road that circles the park’s large lake. When the sun gets too hot in the afternoon, scholars can relax in the various grassy areas, reading Jorge Amado or admiring Brazil’s most famous architect, Oscar Niemeyer’s amphitheater.

The park’s outdoor spaces are only outshined by the rich cultural institutions that reside within its borders. museumgoers can frequent the various museums housed in the park, including the OCA do Ibirapuera, which is famous for hosting large exhibitions such as the largest Picasso exhibition in Latin America, the Museum of Modern Art, which houses more than 4,000 contemporary Brazilian artworks, and the Afro-Brazil Museum which celebrates the cultural achievements of Africans in Brazil. And, of course, our Baret fashionistas will surely visit the Biennial Pavilion which hosts the Brazil Fashion Week twice a year.
